Meet Our Veterinary Nurses

Veterinary Nurses

Bailey, LVN, Elite Fear Free Certified Team Lead

BaileyBailey started at Eastown Veterinary Clinic in 2016 as a high school extern looking to explore the world of veterinary medicine. In 2022, she graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science and a license in veterinary nursing. Bailey is a practical, personable, and down-to-earth individual who strives to stay curious.

Outside of work, Bailey prefers to spend her time outdoors. She enjoys going on walks with her 2 corgis (Gemma & Bear), working in her garden, and spending time with family and friends. She is happiest when around animals and in nature.

Marissa, LVN Operations Manager

MarissaMarissa was inspired to join Vetmed when her childhood dog passed away from osteosarcoma. She developed a longing to understand and a dedication to advocating for animals who could be suffering. Marissa’s passion for helping animals pushed her through tech school in San Diego while raising two very young children. She even took her final exam while in labor—one of her proudest achievements!

After years of working as a nurse in vet med, she realized this field struggles with compassion fatigue, burnout, and overall mental wellness. She recognizes this field is full of empathetic healers working long hours, saying goodbye to patients they love, and very often getting little recognition. Her career path has since evolved – she’s now focused on healing the healers. She’s working to obtain her Master’s in Social Work, focusing on Veterinary Social Work. She hopes to educate our healers on healthy leadership, effective communication, emotional intelligence, and skills to maintain a mentally healthy work and home life!

Brandy, LVN Facility/Regulatory Manager & Sonographer

BrandyBrandy graduated from MSU’s Vet Tech Program in 2012 with her Bachelor of Science in veterinary nursing, where she took an interest in large animal anesthesia and diagnostic imaging. After graduating, Brandy worked in Kentucky performing MRIs before deciding to stay in Michigan. She is a diligent, hardworking individual and continues to grow her passion for advanced diagnostic imaging, particularly ultrasound.

She is most passionate about giving our patients a voice in their health. This has driven her passion for advanced diagnostics and imaging, because our patients cannot tell us what hurts. Some problems aren’t even evident yet. A lot of times when we are running routine diagnostics we find unexpected things. Catching things early often leads to better outcomes.

Outside of Eastown Veterinary Clinic, Brandy owns and operates Blue Gables Homestead – Whiskered Memories, LLC with her husband, Jeremy, and their daughter, Evaline. She enjoys being on the homestead with her many critters, working towards their self-sustainability, and having fun while doing it!

Lucy, LVN Inventory Manager & Cat Friendly Advocate

LucyLucy graduated from Michigan State University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. After working in the animal field for a few years, she chose to attend Baker College of Muskegon in 2016 to obtain her Associate’s in Veterinary Technology. She completed the program and earned her license in 2018. Her areas of interest are feline clinical practice and animal nutrition. When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time with her four cats, traveling, and watching NASCAR races on Sundays!

Sonja, LVN

SonjaSonja graduated from vet tech school in 2011, then took a six-year break to spend time with her daughter. We were lucky enough to have Sonja join our team in her return to vet med! She is devoted to giving our patients and clients a fear-free experience, which is what drew her to EVC. Sonja is passionate about working with pets AND people, and strives to show the utmost care and compassion in all her interactions. Sonja enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband, daughter, three dogs, two cats, and five snakes!

Madison, LVN

MadisonMadison graduated from Michigan State University’s Vet Tech program in 2020, earning her Bachelor’s in Veterinary Nursing. Since childhood, she had a passion for helping animals in need, and this is where she finds her purpose today. She finds pride in the rewarding feeling of being able to provide each owner and their pet with the individualized care they need. She really enjoys physical rehabilitation and hopes to pursue this course further in the future! Her hobbies include reading, running, and spending time with family at her cottage on Higgins Lake.

Megan, LVN

MeganMegan’s journey in animal care began at a county animal shelter, where she started as a volunteer and eventually became a staff member. There, she discovered her deep love for caring for animals and decided to turn that passion into a career. She graduated from Baker College in 2017 and began working as a licensed veterinary nurse at an animal sanctuary. While there, she developed a strong foundation in fear-free handling and compassionate care. While she continues to work in and love shelter medicine, she’s also sought new veterinary medicine opportunities to broaden her skills and knowledge, which brought her to EVC! She’s especially passionate about making every pet feel safe and comfortable at the clinic and strongly advocates for fear-free practices in every aspect of care.

Hope, LVN

HopeHope chose to pursue a career in vet med because she strives to be a voice for the voiceless, helping not only the patient, but the people who love them. She’s had this passion since she was a child. Hope graduated with a Bachelor’s in Veterinary Nursing from Michigan State University in 2025 and shortly after passed her licensing exam! In her free time, she enjoys volunteering in the community, riding motorcycles, embroidery, playing video games, and spending time with her two cats, whom she loves deeply.
