I moved to Grand Rapids from the Detroit area when I married my husband in November of 2017. I have always been an animal nut, and have owned just about every type of animal, including huge fish, lizards, turtles, rodents and cats.
My love of writing took me to Northern Michigan University, and later Michigan State University, where I graduated with a degree in English. After graduation, I wrote for a weekly newspaper in the Detroit area. I moved to Wisconsin in 2004 and decided to pursue my other passion, animals, through a career in the veterinary field. I started working as a veterinary assistant at a day practice, then moved to emergency veterinary medicine in 2007. I moved back to Michigan in 2008, and while working at both a humane society and an emergency hospital, obtained my veterinary technician license in 2014.
When I began the search for a job in the Grand Rapids area, I came across an ad for a marketing director/LVT position at Eastown and was so excited! The position is a perfect blend of working with animals as a LVT, and writing and working with people as the marketing director! It’s been so exciting being a part of Eastown’s growth, and I have truly enjoyed getting to know our clients and their “children!”
My husband and I have a cat named Connor, and a blind and angry guinea pig named Ruby.
I love the outdoors, especially fishing and camping. I also love just about any type of food, Weird Al Yankovic, Gone With the Wind, and my Pez collection, which is currently at about 320 dispensers.
